|

The “NEW” CAREvent® EMT
- Automatic Resuscitation with A.T.T.I.T.U.D.E.®!
Trained individuals now have a safe, effective and inexpensive
means of providing positive pressure ventilation during respiratory
and/or cardiac arrest.
Providing “TRUE AUTOMATIC VENTILATION” at an
affordable price, the lightweight, portable, simple to use
and extremely durable CAREvent EMT® Handheld Resuscitator
is designed for the demands of the emergency resuscitation
and transport environment. In addition, this pneumatically
powered, time/volume cycled ventilator has the added feature
of a Manually Actuated, Automatic Ventilation Override Button
(Manual Button) for use during CPR.
Depressing the Manual
Button overrides the automatic cycling and allows the operator
to provide the breaths manually in
time with the chest compressions. Depression of the button
inhibits the automatic cycling for 10 seconds. This allows
the rescuer to provide the 15 chest compressions in accordance
with the Guidelines 2000 for Resuscitation (G2K®) without
the ventilator attempting to provide the next breath during
the compression cycle. If the Manual Button is not depressed
again the automatic cycling will re-start without any intervention
by the operator. The second breath can then be provided manually.
The ventilator cycling will then stop for 10 seconds, allowing
the next set of compressions to be provided.
The Single Slider
Control provides the simultaneous adjustment of ventilation
frequency and tidal volume. The CAREvent EMT® has
six, preset, tidal volume / frequency settings for a range
of patients from 15 kg., body weight to large adults. An
OFF position is provided so that the device can be left attached
to the gas supply with the supply turned on ready for immediate
use.
The patient is protected from barotrauma due to over
inflation by the Pressure Relief System (with audible alarm).
This
warns the operator of airway obstruction or restriction.
The excess delivered volume is discharged to atmosphere when
the alarm activates.

The
CAREvent® ALS Handheld Resuscitator is lightweight,
portable, extremely durable and simple to use automatic
time/volume cycled ventilatory resuscitator with “Demand
Breathing Capability” for the spontaneously breathing
patient. The added feature of a Manually Actuated, Automatic
Ventilation Override Button (Manual Button) allows the
operator to control the ventilations manually if required.
The single slider control for the simultaneous adjustment of
ventilation frequency and tidal volume has 6 preset settings
for a range of patients from infants to large adults and an
OFF position so that the resuscitator can be left attached
to the gas supply with the supply turned on, ready for immediate
use.
During CPR actuation of the manual button causes the automatic
cycling to cease to allow the provision of chest compressions.
Cycling will re-start following manual actuation after a delay
of 4 to 7 seconds depending on the selected setting of the
slider control.
The Demand Breathing feature allows the patient to spontaneously
breathe through the resuscitator on 100% oxygen, at their own
desired rate and volume. In addition, the patient’s inspiratory
efforts cause the automatic cycling to cease. Should the patient
cease breathing spontaneously, the ventilator will automatically
restart cycling in the automatic setting selected.
Note: In the child settings the inspired flow rate of the patient
may be insufficient to cause the Automatic Circuit Shutoff
to function.
The pneumatic logic circuit can be run off either compressed
air or medical oxygen.

Specifically
designed for the “Chemical Agent Resuscitation Environment”,
the CAREvent® CA Handheld Resuscitator is lightweight,
portable, extremely durable and simple to use automatic time/volume
cycled ventilatory resuscitator with “Demand Breathing
Capability” for the spontaneously breathing patient.
The added feature of a Manually Actuated, Automatic Ventilation
Override Button (Manual Button) allows the operator to control
the ventilations manually if required.
The CAREvent® CA combines simplicity of operation with
technological sophistication to provide automatic ventilation,
at a rate and volume designed to reduce the risk of gastric
insufflation. It also provides Demand Breathing and "Automatic
Circuit Shut Off" of the automatic cycling unit should
the patient begin adequate spontaneous respiration.
Designed to comply with the latest CPR Guidelines 2000 recommendations of a 15:2
compression:ventilation ratio in the un-intubated patient, actuation of the manual
button causes the automatic cycling to cease. This model has a 10 second delay
to automatic cycling re-start “in any setting”, following manual
ventilation actuation, to allow for 15 chest compressions to be provided.
The Demand Breathing feature allows the patient to spontaneously breathe through
the resuscitator on 100% oxygen, at their own desired rate and volume. In addition,
the patient’s inspiratory efforts cause the automatic cycling to cease.
Should the patient cease breathing spontaneously, the ventilator will automatically
restart cycling in the automatic setting selected.
The added feature of this unit is the MASK PURGE (2 lpm) CONSTANT BLEED FLOW.
This reduces the risk of drawing toxic atmosphere into the mask if a leak in
the mask to face seal occurs.
Note: In the child settings the inspired flow rate of the patient may be insufficient
to cause the Automatic Circuit Shut off to function.
The pneumatic logic circuit can be run off either compressed air or medical oxygen.
